The first release in a series of events leading up to the 2012 centennial celebration of Woody Guthrie’s birth, Note of Hope
features tracks based on the words and writings of the great American
Master. Comprised primarily of unpublished Guthrie writings penned
between 1942 and 1954 while he was living in New York City and Brooklyn,
Nora Guthrie (Woody’s daughter) asked renowned bassist Rob Wasserman to
lead the project. Together they recruited a group of artists to bring
Guthrie’s words alive, including Ani DiFranco for the track “Voice”
highlighting how Guthrie found his own voice by listening to the men,
women and children he crossed paths with.
Note of Hope also features Lou Reed, Michael Franti, Tom Morello, Pete Seeger and so many more. Join in the celebration! Note of Hope is available now on 429 Records and your favorite music retailer.
