Hurricane
Katrina was the costliest hurricane in U.S. history, devastating the
cities of Mobile, Waveland, Biloxi, Slidell, and New Orleans. The
resulting flood has permanently changed the face of New Orleans.
One-year later, criticism of federal, state, and local governments'
reaction is widespread. However, we want to offer up a bit of good
news.
Katrina's Piano Fund was founded to provide instruments for New
Orleans musicians who lost their own. We here at Righteous Babe have
been privileged enough to act as a vessel between this great cause and
many of you looking to help. And did you ever!
Over this past year, customers of the Righteous Babe Store have
donated over $35,000 towards Katrina's Piano Fund!!! (too many to list
here . . . but not here)
In total the Fund has provided over $180,000 in instruments, making
it a testament to the power a grassroots effort can have, even garnering
coverage from National Geographic and International Piano Magazine.
Katrina's Piano Fund aims to close its doors soon, but not until the
very last instrument has been bought.
So from all of us here at Righteous Babe, thank you for not biding your time with the decision to help others.
