Our friends over at Appleseed Recordings have been spreading the folk around for more than 10 years now! Staying true to its intentions to “explore the roots and branches of folk and world music and sow the seeds of social justice though music,” Appleseed is celebrating its birthday with Sowing the Seeds – The 10th Anniversary. A 2-CD, 37 track sampler set packed full of politically astute releases, Sowing the Seeds includes nine exclusive tracks, including a collaboration by Bruce Springsteen and Pete Seeger on “Ghost of Tom Joad,” Donovan’s newly remade “Universal Soldier,” four new Pete Seeger tracks, and Ani’s scathing rendition of “Waist Deep in the Big Muddy.”
