Ten years into a dynamic career marked by seven LPs, two EPs and a live concert album, Erin McKeown joins the Righteous Babe Records family with the 2009 release Hundreds of Lions, her first collection of original songs since 2005’s We Will Become Like Birds.

From elegant pop to balls-out rock, sweet electronics to witty swing, Erin McKeown has packed a ton of music into a substantial career.

Although Erin started writing songs while still in high school in her hometown Fredericksburg, Virginia, she really began earning her chops while attending Brown University, releasing two albums before graduation and gigging on weekends whenever and wherever possible. She hasn’t slowed down, famously averaging 200 live shows a year. As a multi-instrumentalist, Erin’s become in demand as a session player, recording vocals, piano, bass lines and, of course, guitar tracks for other artists’ records all while steadily working material that became Hundreds of Lions.

In addition to recording for others and performing her own songs all over the world, Erin’s music has been featured on television shows "The L Word", "Gilmore Girls", "Privileged", "Jake in Progress", and "Nip/Tuck". She has appeared in People magazine, on the cover of Paste magazine, on NPR, Jools Holland, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. She's proud to have shared the stage with friends Andrew Bird, Ani DiFranco, Amy Ray, Martin Sexton, Josh Ritter, Michelle Shocked, Mike Doughty, Matt Nathanson, Stephen Kellogg, and Richard Thompson.

The dawn of this next decade finds Erin expanding both as a writer-into essays and poetry-and as an activist, lobbying for better energy policy on Capitol Hill and teaching songwriting at girls’ rock camps across the country.

Erin’s tuned in to her craft and community more than ever making it the perfect time to join the ranks of Righteous Babe Records. Visit Erin McKeown’s official website for more information www.erinmckeown.com.
