Live at The Typer Cannon Grand delivers the energy of a decade of performances from poet Buddy Wakefield. Wakefield is a two-time (2004 and 2005) Individual World Poetry Slam Champion who has been featured on NPR, the BBC, and HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. He has shared the stage with nearly every notable performance poet in the world in hundreds of venues internationally from The Fillmore in San Francisco and Scotland’s Oran Moore to San Quentin State Penitentiary, House of Blues New Orleans and CBGB’s.
Says Buddy, “We included lots of the banter and live accompaniment that makes doing live shows so fun, and made sure to pay special attention to building a CD folks can listen to repeatedly.”
“I wanted a series of undeniable quality moments - whether they be of laughter or locomotives or geese bumping - to create a continuum that causes a revival that looks like a high dive.”
“What I really wanna say is this: At the zoo I saw a Violaceous Turaco. It's a bird. The first note on the informative plaque next to its cage read, ‘awkward while airborne.’ My middle name happens to be Violaceous Turaco. This CD is my safe landing.”
