Judging an Album by its Cover:
Evolve Wins the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Recording Package.
It stands alone, breaking through a shimmering blue background. The moth on the cover of Ani DiFranco's album Evolve looks so life-like, it almost wouldn't be a shock if it flew off the page and made a beeline towards the nearest light bulb. On February 8, 2004, The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences agreed, awarding Ani and her longtime art director Brian Grunert the 2004 Grammy award for Best Recording Package.
Taking advantage of sophisticated printing techniques and creative uses of paper, the record's embossed digi-pak, metallic blue slip case with intricate moth die-cut and beautiful liner note booklet act as visual sisters to The Little Folksinger's ambitious songs, resulting in a package that is as relevant as it is striking. In a career packed with major achievements, Ani has another one to add to her resume: Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Freak and Grammy Winner.
