The 'ballad of Ani DiFranco' lies within the tracks on this fifth
release in the official bootleg series. Alongside it, the evening's
conversation includes talk of voting, stalkers, and threesomes. Strange
bedfellows, certainly, yet Chicago 1.17.04 brings them all together in a
way that only seems to happen at an Ani show.
The Chicago release offers you a rare glimpse into Ani's songwriting process as she talks about the creation of a ditty or two, and you'll hear her perform "Knuckle Down" (from Knuckle Down) in front of an audience for the very first time. This bootleg also features the first live versions of "Manhole" and "Paradigm" (both from Knuckle Down) to be released on disc. So, here it is: the fifth official bootleg in Ani's live series, recorded on January 17, 2004 at the Chicago Theatre! It's hard to believe that we'll now be counting these releases on both hands (and then... both feet), with each bootleg just as unique as a fingerprint. You know where to go to get 'em! |
